      Taiwan International Healthcare Training Center (TIHTC)
      • Clinical Training

        TIHTC provides professional clinical training programs to physicians, nurses, and medical technicians. During the training, trainees will have the opportunity to observe the instructors and the medical environment and also learn the advanced healthcare management approaches in Taiwan.

         

        Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, Dentistry, Dermatology, Dermatopathology, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, General Surgery ], Hematology, Immunology & Rheumatology, Infection Control, Internal Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Microsurgery, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nursing, Nutrition, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pain Medicine, Pathology, Pediatric, Pharmacy, Plastic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Rehabilitation, Thoracic Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, Toxicology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Plastic Surgery, Urology

        ELIGIBILITY

        • Healthcare professionals who hold a valid related medical license
        • Healthcare professionals with at least 1 year of medical practice experience

         

        NOTICE

        • If your desired training department is not listed above, please send an inquiry email at training@tihtc.org.tw
        • For clinical training that is longer than 3 months, applicants must apply 3 months prior to the start of the training; for clinical training that is under 3 months, applicants must apply 1 month prior to the start of the training.
        • The maximum training period cannot exceed 1 year.
        • No clinical practice is allowed in clinical training programs under 3 months; after 3 months in a hospital, your mentor could assess your ability and allow you to perform some operations under their supervision.
        • Applicants must comply with related epidemic prevention and control measures announced by Taiwan Centers for Disease Control.
        • The TIHTC and MOHW reserve the right to make changes to the trainings, including the date, format, course content, and admission requirements.

         

        Fees

        Accidental insurance during the training period are subsidized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

         

        Trainees need to cover

        1. Air-ticket
        2. Living expenses
        3. Medical insurance
        4. Training fee: around NT$ 10,000-15,000 per month which will be charged by the training hospital
        5. Accommodation fee:
        • Less than 7 Days: US$ 72 / NT$ 2,000 per person
        • Less than 15 Days: US$ 108 / NT$ 3,000 per person
        • More than 15 Days~1 month: US$ 180 / NT$ 5,000 per person

        International Dermatopathology Training Program

        The dermatopathology service in Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taipei is a training center accredited by the International Committee for Dermatopathology since 2015.

         

        The training program provides short-term attachment (less than 6 months) or long-term (6 months to 1 year) observation fellowship. Spaces are limited.

         

        The program provides a comprehensive dermatopathology experience, including daily slide reading, clinico-pathological and academic conferences, immunofluorescence, electron microscope, and access to well-organized dermatopathology slide archives.

      • Clinical Training Application Process

        TIHTC encourages applicants to apply as early as possible and make sure all documentation is in order before submission. For clinical training that is longer than 3 months, applicants must apply 3 months prior to the start of the training; for clinical training that is under 3 months, applicants must apply 1 month prior to the start of the training.

         

        ➊ Supporting documents preparation

        • See the list of supporting documents down below

        • Health reports are not required during this stage.

        ➋ Fill out the application form and upload documents

        • TIHTC will check if there are any missing documents. In case of missing documentation, the applicant is required to submit them within 2 weeks of receiving the notice.

        • Applications with incomplete documents will be considered invalid and can be declined for the TIHTC trainings.

        ➌ Training arrangement

        • TIHTC will match the applicants with the training hospitals according to the applicant's study plan.

        ➍ Application review

        • Application reviews are conducted jointly by TIHTC, training hospitals, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

        • Other supplementary documents may be required for further review.

        ➎ Acceptance

        • Upon receiving the final results of your application from the MOHW, TIHTC will notify applicants via email and send the essential documents for the visa application.

        • International medical insurance that covers the whole training period is required.

        • Also note that the applicant’s health reports should be made no earlier than 3 months before the intended start date.

        Supporting documents​

        ➊ A scanned copy of your passport

        The copy should display clear personal information including your name, date of birth, passport number, and expiration date. Your passport should have 6 months or more validity after the end of your training.

        ➋ An ID photo

        Two-inch ID color photo with white background, and at least 1062 x 826 pixels (taken within 6 months).

        ❸ Resume or curriculum vitae

        ➍ One or more letters of recommendation

        The letter should be dedicated to the training you apply for, with the signature of the referee within 6 months before the intended starting date of the training.

        ➎ A scanned copy of a diploma or degree relevant to the field of medicine

        ➏ Valid English certificate

        Valid English proficiency certification or a self-introductory video in English (3-5 minutes)

        ➐ Health reports

        Health reports should be made within 3 months before the intended starting date of the training. TIHTC will inform you when and what items are required, including:

        • Chest X-ray for pulmonary tuberculosis

        • Hepatitis B status

        • Serological test for syphilis

        • Certificate or proof of positive measles antibody or measles vaccination

        • Certificate or proof of positive rubella antibody or rubella vaccination

        • Others

        Copies of any other licenses, certifications, or awards relevant to the training you are applying

        ➒ A scanned copy of a valid medical license

        ➓ Proof of work experience in medical related field

        Work experience should be more than 1 year, and the proof should be issued within 6 months before the intended starting date of the training (Chinese or English translated versions accepted).

        ➓ International medical insurance

        An international medical insurance covering all your training period will be required.
